Abstract:

Sika, the cold neutron triple-axis spectrometer (CNTAS), using the cold neutrons generated in the Open Pool Austrilia Light-water (OPAL) Recator at Austrilian Nuclear Science and Technology Oransiation (ANSTO) near Sydney, Austrilia. Sika is named after the natuive Taiwaness deer, known as Formosa sika deer, that appears as the symbolic figure of the five hundrad New Taiwan Dollar bill. In its functionality, Sika represnets the Spin-polarized Inelastic K-space Analyzer. Sika was constructed by a team from National Cnetral University formed in July 2006, after an Arrangement was signed by National Science Concuil of Taiwan and ANSTO in 2005. The Sika term was deteermined to construct a world-class CNTAS, in which focuing flux, reaching large-Q, high detecting efficiency, and low background sign are the main concerns. The shielding dram and analyzer-detector housing were constructed in 鼎茂, located in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The project was delayed by nearly a year time due to the late-arrival of the heavy loading sample stage by Huber. A control-data-acquisition-&-manipulation software, based on Labview, aparts from the control system that ANSTO used, was developed by a IT specialist of Sika term, which make the requrements effectively to fullfil and shorten the timeline. The final assemble complted in August 2012, and transfer to National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC) for following up management in May 2013. Examples that reflects Sika detecting capability will be presented as well.
